Dr. John Lane graduated from UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, in 1990. His Family Medicine residency training was at the University of Arizona in Tucson.
His first two years after training, Dr. Lane practiced rural medicine including obstetrics in Eagle Lake, Texas. He then worked in Houston for 10 years. He and his family moved to New Zealand in 2005 where he practiced rural medicine at the Otaki Medical Centre for six years. There he gained Fellowship in the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners. Upon his return to the U.S. in 2011, he was employed by Sparks Regional Medical Center at the Greenwood Family Medical Clinic.
Dr. Lane moved to UAMS West on April 1, 2014 to join the faculty. His experience within the Sparks System has produced relationships throughout the Fort Smith medical community that benefit patient care and resident teaching in this program. He has special interest in outpatient care, geriatric and nursing home care, cross-cultural medical practice and responsible use of limited health care resources.
Other interests include outdoor sports and martial arts. Dr. Lane and his wife Leah have been married for more than 20 years and have two children, Isabel and Joseph.
